New year's post... - 00:57 GMT January 07, 2007

Well then, this is my first post on the year 2007. To be honest, at this moment of time, I cannot sleep for some reason. Nevertheless I will keep this short because I do not have the mood to write something lengthy.

I have been revising the entire day, cramming as much stuff as I possibly can. My first paper is due in thirty-three hours time as we speak.

As far as my confidence level is concerned, I am quite confident, yet some parts of me are fearing for the worst. Maybe it is the expectations and high targets that are causing those fears. Well, I do not know, we shall see how it goes really.

Until this coming Friday, I doubt I will be posting anything. I do have some comments to make on what is going on this year but now is simply not the time for it.

2006: Reflection - 11:50 GMT December 30, 2006

I thought I might as well write upon what and how I felt about this year. No point waiting till the next day to write this up as I am pretty sure that tomorrow will be another empty day filled with revision once more.

So on I go talking about 2006. Instead of going through month by month, I will go through them quarterly:

First quarter:
Hmm, it started the same way like 2005 did. Exams awaited me not long after I entered this year. Thankfully I did reasonable on those papers. The group project started after the exams too, and nothing much was happening then. There was Lap's birthday on the end of January, and that is all for that month really.

I cannot recall anything significant on February, so on we go to March. I can still remember those nights I had to stay up just to slog for the group project along with a few others. It was not a nice thing but quite fun given the fact that a lot of work was put into the project in the end.

Second quarter:
On we go, the second quarter, nothing great deal has happened in the first two months apart from revision followed up by exams once more. So we move forward to June.

June was a bit more interesting. At the start of the month, I and my brother held our belated birthday then by organising paintballing. Why the delay? Simple, because there were a few of my friends whom their exams end later than the others. It was one of the few things that I really enjoyed, shooting people at will, albeit a bit of a painful one!

June also marked the beginning of the World Cup, as well as summer holidays. I never really did much apart from going to occasional sporting events such as badminton and football during the month. I never had any ongoing jobs, so that explains how come I was pretty free. Well, it was not for too long until I had a job, although a freelance one, so that meant I was free in some sense anyway.

Third quarter:
Italy won the World Cup, who would have thought of that? Anyway I spent my first two months dealing with the magazine job really. During August, I got myself a Nintendo DS after some persuasion(or coercion if you like) from my friend(s). It really killed some of my boredom over the otherwise dull summer holidays.

I wished I was in Malaysia instead, as being sarcastic against my friends there can be fun at times. I always get 'nice' reactions from my friends after listening to one of my sarcastic comments. I know, deep down they actually enjoyed those remarks mrgreen. Hahaha. Anyway nothing really great happened till September.

Fourth quarter:
October till today marks the length of my first term in university. What is there to say anymore? Normal life resumes, with the mix of badminton as the only thing to keep me fit over these months.

Speaking of badminton, Malaysia finally won a gold medal in the recent Asian Games. Great achievement considering it has been thirty-six years since we last won one of those.

That is it really, 2006 has really been an all right year overall although a bit dull. Maybe that would change next year or so, maybe not.

Merry belated Christmas - 00:09 GMT December 28, 2006

Ah, ten days have gone by since I last wrote something here, and it felt like almost a month. Maybe the constant worrying and(perhaps) panicking slowed time down considerably. Before I continue on this matter, I want to say a merry belated Christmas to everyone. Christmas has been so-so for me this year, due to revision once again ruining things. Only the television has been providing me the source of entertainment, nothing else. For the record, I am not touching my Nintendo DS during revision.

Whenever I lie down and try to sleep every night nowadays, I just reflect upon things, attempting to plan my strategies for the weeks to come. That has probably been one of the factors why ten days felt so long. Time just got compressed by the simple trick of the mind. On the other hand, whenever you enjoy your holidays, having fun, time just flies away, and five weeks felt like only five days. This was what happened on 2003 when I went back to Penang for my holidays. Five weeks felt extremely short. That was how I felt anyway.

Speaking of which, if I look at the bigger picture now, one year felt short too. The memory of last December is still pretty much fresh in my mind, the details of my revision back then is pretty intact... and we are now in December 2006.

I hope I can get out of this pretty soon. But it will be at least two weeks before I can get out of anything. And, once exams are over, second term awaits me instantly the week after, not to mention non-trivial interviews as well. No rest whatsoever. Stakes have risen considerably too, as the final year marks count much more.

Oh I just wish every day could be like the paintballing day I had back in June, good day out with friends. Then again, my life would not be as colourful would it? Yeah right, as if the stuff I just wrote was exciting...

It has been ages... - 21:43 GMT December 17, 2006

...that I last wrote something. It has been exactly a month since my last update, what timing to choose to update what has been going on. Have I been busy? Yes, but not that busy to the point where I neglected to update this completely, it has been more of the case of finding the right time to write something. You know, when you are in the mood to do it. For most of the time over the one month gap, I never felt like writing probably due to frustrations that I face with projects and so forth.

Anyway, on to what has happened. Surprisingly(not) enough, there has not been anymore birthday parties that were held in between the gap. So that means there is not much to say in terms of parties. But nevertheless I went to an end of term dinner with my university colleagues, and had some drinking at the student union's bar later that night.

Did I just mentioned end of term? Why yes I did, and so, the usual Christmas break is here, along with the usual event that welcomes me right after it... no prizes for guessing this one, which is exams! The stakes are much higher now that the final year units are given the maximum weighting in terms of importance when it comes to degree classification. Hence the pressure to deliver will be pretty heavy on my shoulders once more. Not to mention my individual project too....

So yes, my holidays have already begun, and yes, updates will be even rare now because of revision. And no, I am not going anywhere this holidays. It is crazy to even contemplate it at the first place.

That is it folks, I could not hope January the 12th to come any sooner, haha.
