Long summer ahead - 10:38 BST June 21, 2006
It has been two and a half weeks since I last wrote anything. I have been pretty busy, mainly dealing with programming stuff. Sad really, looking at so many lines of code and having need to deal with them.
Nothing much has been happening of late, only the World Cup has been my main source of entertainment nowadays. I have to say that it is pretty disappointing so far, as quite a number of teams are not living up to the hype.
It has been a crazy few weeks in terms of weather. It has been swinging from hot to cold now and then. Climate change is probably the main culprit behind all this.
Oh well, another three months to go before my lifeless year begins. I can give an answer as to whether I am going back to Malaysia for holidays or not right now. And unfortunately, it is a no.
That is all, nothing much else to report for now.

Paintballing! - 23:07 BST June 03, 2006
Oh my, what a great day today was. After all those dull days past the end of my exams(Hence no update? Hehe....), I went out to do something today, which was paintballing.
Got up pretty early, about quarter to seven in the morning, and had my breakfast, then off to Waterloo station.
I got to the station at about 8.40am, and I saw Peter and his girlfriend, Mei, over there. We waited for other people to come, and in the end, 33 people turned up.
We then got into the train to Effingham Junction, the place where the paintballing is located. Throughout the journey, I had a chat with my Malaysian Singaporean friends, of which whom I never talked to for some time already. We got to the paintballing place by walking from the station, which was a 10 minute walk contrary to what the map suggested. Before entering the entrance, I can hear rapid gun shots. Exciting times ahead I suppose!
So we got in at 11am, got ourselves into paintballing attire, and equipped ourselves with bullets, and so on. Then we got a briefing from the marshalls of the game, and we had our group split into two. Blue against gold. Blue team had veterans like Vadim, Anthony Low, Danny Wong and loads more. So no surprises as to who won in the end of the game. Of course, after the teams were decided, we then went to the battlefield....
So here is a round up of the matches I took part in:
Round #1: I had initial problems with my goggles, so I had to walk up to the marshall to get it fixed. Now since that has been done, I jumped back into the firing line. I stood there, right in the open, calibrating my gun in front of several foes.
Lesson learnt: Standing in the open and trying to fire at will = very easy target to get gunned down.
I got shot on the stomach, which hurt a bit, but the pain goes away quite fast. Not as bad compared to my friend Richard though, where he had three shots consecutive on his neck, and obviously, it bled. Thankfully he was not hit on the throat, but nonetheless, the injury was still nasty.
Round #2: So now, having learnt a lesson from Round #1, I opted to duck behind barricades. I had a shootout against someone quite a distance off me. After firing quite a number of shots and having missed them, the marshall told me to move up to get a better chance. So I did that, and immediately I got shot on the knee cap twice and got knocked out as a result.
We had a lunch break then before resuming onto the next few games.
Round #3: Now this was an added twist. We were supposed to have our own private game, but now we had to team up with people from Royal Holloway, which did not bother me much anyway. We had an attack and defence game, where the attacking team has got to go to get the flag off our base area. I was on the defence, and kept firing behind the bunker. But not long, I got a shot onto my goggle, and I was knocked out.
Round #4: This was another shootout game, where one has to take the flag and run with it. I did not have a good time with this game as the vision on the goggle was a bit blur.
Round #5:
This was the last game, and again, the vision on the goggle was blur, so I spent most of my time hiding behind the barricade firing off at random. But in the end, two people ran across me, so I went trigger happy, but I got shot, so I got knocked out once more.
In the end, my team got thrashed, but it did not matter much as it was a good game. I had a great time there, and I look forward to going to another shootout.
For those who are curious, paintballing does hurt. Plus, it is costly too, having spent about 30 quid on it alone is quite a sum of money.

End of second year! - 19:48 BST May 22, 2006
It has been nearly a week since my finals were over. Nothing really much has been happening since because the weather was pretty bad, meaning I could not really go out. Quite ironic since the weather was superb albeit hot during the course of exams, and it has now gone cold and rainy nowadays.
What have I been doing? Playing some games, doing a bit of programming, reading books, and also doing Tai-chi daily(which helps me to keep my fitness haha).
Overall, my exams were pretty good, but I would leave this subject till July and await my fate. Till then, no more university business(or is there?)!

Update after a long time of inactivity - 00:36 BST May 10, 2006
Wow, what a time to make an update here. Yeah I know, less than 36 hours remaining before my exams and a new update pops up. I thought I have something to write, so why not?
Yeah, so I went to the Malaysian Embassy in London two days ago(Monday). I went there to renew my passport. Over there, my Malay language skills was put to the test and thankfully I passed it without any hitches.
The strangest thing happened when I was on my way to take a new photo since my photo was not acceptable for the passport. So I walked out from the embassy towards the shop to take my new photo. When I just about to walk, someone stopped his car and stopped me. He literally asked me to go over to him. This is how the conversation went(roughly about that):
Him: "Do you speak Italian?"
Me: "No."
Him: "Ah, ok. Do you know about Harrods?"
Me: "Yeah, what about it?"
Him: "I am a designer. Do you know Georgio Armani?"
Me: "Yes of course."
Him: "You see, I just finished by exhibition at Harrods, and my next destination is Sydney. I need to get rid of my stock here. I stopped you because I thought your body size suits the jacket."
Me: "Sorry, but I am in a hurry."
Him: "We can do the deal in 30 seconds. Why not have a look?"
Me: "I am really sorry, but I need to go."
So I went off. Basically that Italian guy wanted to make a deal by offloading those Georgio Armani jackets to me. What the hell?
Apart from that, nothing special happened, my day resumed as normal as I managed to take my new photos and then renew my passport.
I then later had lunch at Chinatown with my brother, and this time, without the likes of Lap, we did an experiment: Use our crappy Cantonese skills to talk our way through in the restaurant. Guess what, surprisingly, it worked! What a let off.
That was it for that day, nothing much exciting happening nowadays except.... you got it, revision!

Sunny day - 17:51 BST April 17, 2006
The weather today is very nice, but unfortunately, I did not take advantage of it and have a nice day out, mainly because of revision.
Sorted out a significant amount of stuff now, considering that I did not really step a gear up in my progress all the while.
That is about it, nothing much to report in between these few days, just saying that updates should be quite rare from now and then until after my exams.
P.S. I wished a had a piano.
