Oh my busy days - 22:59 GMT March 15, 2006

Just when I thought I handed in my project, the pressure is gone. But boy am I wrong on all accounts.

1. I have to deal with the upcoming KCLMSS elections.
2. I have coursework due this Friday.
3. I have to prepare for my project presentation which is on this Monday.
4. I have to apply for more summer placements.

Just finished badminton today and it was all right considering that I was real tired and my concentration was at all time low.

And I feel tired again, I need to regain my lost sleep, not all has been recovered, so I am off now, see you later people.

Back after seemingly being out of action - 22:05 GMT March 14, 2006

Oh my word, it is nearly a month since I last written something here. The project I was doing all the while was the main reason behind all this. I have been working up till way beyond midnight over the past two weeks along with my friend Nigel and my brother. But nonetheless it was finished, and we managed to hand it in today, at the cost of skiving all of my lectures as well as me falling sick now. This is something that I have done in my university life for once. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my friends for being awesome team-mates, they rock.

Nothing much happened over the past few weeks that I can really remember, apart from Nicola's recent birthday party on the 10th at an Iranian restaurant. A lot of many people went there, and it was crowded. I met my old schoolmate from Dartford there, Simon. He was rather surprised to see me there, as well as I was. He was invited by Nicola, and Nicola could hardly believe it when we told her the connection between us during sixth form.

I went back to stay overnight at Lap's house after the party, and we had some rather interesting discussion amongst us friends(me, my brother, Lap and Richard) on being a British or a Malaysian. Lap tried to question my nationality, of which the answer is pretty obvious: I am a Malaysian, and I always will be. I mean, what proof do people want? I know the national anthem, I know the culture, I know the language.... OK, I should stop, I think that is enough right?

The next day, which was the 11th, I then resumed my crazy attack on the group project. Day after day, I wrote JSP code non-stop, ensuring that they did not break. I wrote till the day today.

Today was also the day I get to know my exam results, but only in the form of grades. When I was in the train, I thought to myself, "I can probably settle down for two A's and two B's.". So, when I got off the train, I immediately dashed to the campus and went to the notice board. When I saw the list of candidate numbers, I could hardly remember mine. But when I saw a candidate number, it looked familiar. And I saw the first subject associated to the candidate number. It was an A. And then, onto the next subject, another A, and the third subject, which was also an A, and finally, another A. I was like thinking "This better be my candidate number!" and dashed to the computer labs, logging into my account with full of anticipation.

When I logged in, the number MATCHED the one on the notice board. So you can tell that I am a very happy person now. biggrin

I am not going to be complacent with this achievement though, but it does act as an encouragement for me to do well in the upcoming exams.

That is all for now. I am quite tired, but happy!

And so, countless weekends have gone - 16:45 GMT February 18, 2006

I do not even know how many weeks have gone since I began my second year. Time flies indeed. Well, what is there to say then? Nothing much, just that this week is the week of pressure because I have coursework for each and every unit I am studying now.

So, another week of usual lectures, nothing much to say about them, just typical lectures.

I am so tired after playing badminton today, but I have to get going soon to do some work.

That is all, yes I know, another short post, but at the moment I have ran out of things to say, so there you go.

Happy Valentine's Day? - 23:46 GMT February 14, 2006

Wow, after twelve days of missing in action, I am finally back to update this site, and happy Valentine's Day for those couples out there, hehehe. I can see some blokes on the streets of Strand taking a bouquet of flowers today. No, I am not one of them so do not bother asking me anything.

So what has been the reason of lack of updates? Simple really, I was very busy. Busy with what you may think. Well, I have been called up by Morgan Stanley recently for an interview, and man I have to admit it was the toughest job interview I have ever been. There are probably tougher ones than that, but this one definitely ranks on top along with the very tough list. No, I did not get the job, but I have to say that the experience was a pretty worthwhile one. Plus group project and coursework mean that I have pretty much little time to do even the simplest of tasks like updating this site.

Right, onto the key events over the past few days:

Friday and Tuesday, 3rd and 7th of February 2006 - Usual days of lectures, nothing significant happened apart from that.

Friday, 10th of February 2006 - First day of my Morgan Stanley assessment. Seeing that it started from early afternoon(had to check into the hotel prior to going to Canary Wharf), I had to skive my lectures just for it. This was also the first time I have been to Canary Wharf. My goodness, what a place that was, I certainly would not mind going there once again. I was brought and shown around the Morgan Stanley building. Very impressive stuff indeed. Later that night I went back to my hotel. Nice stuff seeing that they had my name displayed on the TV as part of the welcome message.

Saturday, 11th of February 2006 - The day of the assessment. I do not think it is fair to reveal any particular information here, and I might possibly get into trouble for legal reasons as well. But anyway I had to do five tests, of which I did the first half pretty well, until the second half, where the real grilling began. Good heavens, I have not been put into such a scenario before. I never even anticipated it seeing that I thought this was going to be just another job interview with tough questions, but I was proven well wrong. It was probably the reason why I got rejected by them, since they only want the highest of standards from their candidates.

Later that day itself, I went to Joanne Yip's birthday party. Joanne got really drunk, and she puked not long after being drunk. As usual we went to dinner, and then after that I, my brother and Richard went to Lap's house to stay at night. Very tiring day indeed.

Today is another usual day of lectures, and I have been greeted with another coursework. That means I have more work to do, and indeed a lot of work has to be done. The Morgan Stanley interview has taken some time off me last week, but now seeing that it has been cleared, I should be able to do more work this week.

Busy life but this is what second years should be experiencing right?

And oh, seems like my friends are all suffering from cold/cough nowadays. Hay fever season perhaps? Most probably.

Photos of Lap's birthday have now been uploaded, but unfortunately, due to lack of web space, I might not be able to upload photos of Joanne Yip's birthday party.

Update: In terms of web space, I am living on the edge now as I managed to upload photos of Joanne Yip's birthday party.

Entering the second month of 2006 - 15:24 GMT February 02, 2006

It has been quite a long time since I last updated this site. This is due to the fact that I was busy.

So, onto what significant events have happened over the past week and a half:

Tuesday to Wednesday, January 24th to 25th 2006 - Nothing much apart from usual day of lectures on Tuesday and badminton on Wednesday.

Thursday, January 26th 2006 - Lap's birthday. My brother, Ben and Nigel bought Lap a lot of drinks and made him real drunk at Waterfront. Lap later vomited in the toilet, and my brother, Ben and Nigel had to do some clean up on the mess caused there.

Friday, Jaunary 27th 2006 - Another day of lectures, albeit shorter than Tuesday.

Saturday, January 28th 2006 - Another day of badminton, and I will not forget this day simply for the fact that I had train delays up to half an hour. First, a delay due to slow moving train, then another delay due to waiting for the driver to arrive the train station..... unacceptable indeed.

Tuesday, January 31st 2006 - Another long day of lectures, but it was not as tiring as last week's though.

Wednesday, February 1st 2006 - Badminton again, but this time round, there were plenty of empty courts, meaning I had a lot of chances to play.

Today is another day off for me. I will upload photos of Lap's birthday as soon as possible. I have been pretty busy over the days(as indicated by lack of updates), so it might take some time before I upload them.
